About Trefriw

Trefriw is a cute, hidden gem situated on the eastern side of Eryri | Snowdonia National Park and is surrounded by dramatic hills and forests on one side and lush, green farmland on the other. Our village is just:

  • 5 miles north of Betws-y-Coed,

  • 10 miles south of Conwy, and

  • 14 miles south of Llandudno

… so the best of both Eryri | Snowdonia National Park and the North Wales coast are within very easy reach!

A famous waterfall in the middle of Trefriw (The Fairy Falls) flows into a tumbling river which passes the end of our garden, whilst two lakes above the village (Llyn Geirionydd and Llyn Crafnant) are in easy walking or driving distance.

Our village, Trefriw

Trefriw also has a working woollen mill which makes traditional Welsh blankets, butchers / grocery store, post office, cafe, two great pubs - one right next door to our B&B! - and two restaurants.

Walks from our door take you right into Eryri | Snowdonia National Park to see spectacular views, forests, lakes, rivers and waterfalls, all of which are often less visited and more peaceful compared with other popular parts of the park.

So for a very small, quiet village Trefriw packs quite a punch - it has everything you could possibly need when choosing a place to stay for your holiday!

About nearby Llanrwst

Llanrwst is our nearest town though - just 3 miles from Trefriw - and it is either a pleasant 25-30 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive to get to it.

It is a handsome, historic small town famous for a three-arched bridge across the River Conwy next to which is Tu Hwnt i’r Bont, a very photogenic 15th century riverside tearoom festooned with leaves that change colour in the autumn.

In Llanrwst you will find cafes, a good supermarket and independent shops - including a superb deli and wine store, Blas ar Fwyd - not to mention a great fish and chips restaurant.

The location was perfect to explore North Wales, from the coast all the way through Snowdonia National Park!
